Story
Jamel Sampson started making comedy as a hobby and built it into a full-time career, leaving a job as a medical-records clerk. His best-known creation is Ezekiel, a six-year-old who gets into endless trouble; in the skits Sampson also plays Ezekiel’s father, mother and brother. He freestyles the scripts for his daily videos and has worked with fellow creators including Jr Lee and KyleBoss.
By 2024 his audience had passed one million followers on TikTok, with hundreds of thousands more on Instagram and YouTube. He has said he hopes to take his work to the big screen.
He has also turned his popularity into business. In 2023 he launched Certified Scoop, a line of ice and milk lollies sold in supermarkets and pharmacies, and in July 2024 opened a Certified Scoop shop at South Park Mall in San Fernando. He has worked as a brand ambassador and has appeared at events across the region, including the Barbados Food and Rum Festival and a 2025 visit to Guyana with the Guyana Tourism Authority.
In 2025 he moved into music with the soca song “Euphoria”, recorded with Sekon Sta and performed at Nailah Blackman’s Sokah Origins concert.
