Masego and Buju Banton have released the music video for “Hello”, their collaboration from Masego’s album Fix Your Face. The video, directed by Cam Hicks, was published on Masego’s official YouTube channel on 19 October 2026.

Who are Masego and Buju Banton?

Masego was born in Jamaica and raised in Virginia. He blends jazz, R&B and hip hop into a style he calls “TrapHouseJazz”, often with his saxophone in the mix. Buju Banton needs little introduction in the Caribbean: the Jamaican reggae and dancehall great rose to fame in the early 1990s, made the landmark album ‘Til Shiloh, and won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album with Before the Dawn.

About “Hello”

  • Genre: Reggae and dancehall-flavoured R&B
  • Album: Fix Your Face (Masego)
  • Sample: the track flips Shawty Lo’s 2008 hit “Dey Know”
  • Single released: July 2026
  • Video: released 19 October 2026, directed by Cam Hicks
  • Rights: UMG Recordings and EQT Recordings

The vibe

“Hello” is a meeting of two generations of Jamaican-rooted music. Masego brings the smooth, jazzy cool, and Buju arrives with that unmistakable voice, rough and warm at the same time, and lifts the whole record the moment he comes in. Flipping a hip hop classic gives it an instantly familiar bounce, and the dancehall energy turns it into a party rather than a slow jam. The video goes all in on that, setting the pair in the middle of a dancehall party. For diaspora listeners who grew up with Buju in one ear and American R&B in the other, this lands right in the middle.
