Nailah Blackman has opened her Carnival 2027 account with “Watch Me Work (W.M.W)”, a soca single and dance-heavy music video that premiered on her official YouTube channel on 9 October 2026.
Who is Nailah Blackman?
Nailah Blackman is a singer and songwriter from Trinidad and Tobago, and one of the most recognisable voices in modern soca. She is the granddaughter of Ras Shorty I, the man credited with creating soca, and she has spent the past decade carrying that legacy into a sound that mixes soca with pop and R&B. Her shows across the Caribbean, North America and the UK have made her a regular on carnival stages far beyond Port of Spain.

The vibe
This is Nailah in full control. Anson Pro keeps the beat tight and bouncy, leaving plenty of space for her vocal to sit right on top, and the hook is built for a crowd to shout back. It is less of a jump-and-wave road anthem and more of a strut: a song for the moment the music drops and the whole fete finds its rhythm. The video leans into that, with choreography front and centre and a crew of dancers matching her energy beat for beat. If you like your soca sweet, sharp and made for moving, put this one on early in the season and let it grow.
